Sluggan Bridge

Following a route past Carrbridge railway station and the local timber mill, you break away from the road and drop down through woodland, to Sluggan Bridge. The bridge used to carry the old road to Inverness that was built by General Wade after the 1715 Jacobite rebellion. Now it stands in isolation near an abandoned croft, amidst a peaceful and beautiful setting.

The walk is about 3 miles from the cottage and you can reduce that to one mile if you drive part of the way. The walk can be extended to a circular trip of about 7 miles from the cottage for the more energetic.  We have often seen deer and buzzards on this walk. The river makes a lovely setting for a picnic.
